Restaurants & pubs Recommended
Bude has a wide variety of good eateries, and this list is by no means exhaustive, it’s a selection of places that Andrew, the owner, and his family have enjoyed.
The Bank at Bude
Tapas restaurant (evenings only) overlooking Bude Marshes. A 10 min walk from the house down the cycle path towards town.
The Weir Bistro
Great place for coffee or outdoor lunches overlooking a lake with children’s play area. A short walk from the house east along the canal so provides a great walk as well. Open selected evenings only – check in advance if going for an evening meal.
The Beach Hotel
The terrace of the Beach Hotel cocktail bar has one of the best views around, perched above Summerleaze Beach with sweeping views out to sea. Great place to watch the sunset. Recommend an ice cold margherita after a day on the beach!
Life’s a Beach
The beachside café at Summerleaze Beach, open all day including evening meals (check evening opening outside of season). Some good seafood dishes and Fabulous sunset views over the beach.
North Coast Wine
Wine shop and wine and cocktail bar. Having a drink on the terrace in the centre of Bude is a great spot for people watching. Also serves coffees throughout the day.
Sea Fever
Excellent seafood and an interesting menu. Recommend the tandoori mackerel with squid bhaji if it's on that night.
Potters
Refined dinning in an upstairs restaurant with bar downstairs
House of Chaplin
Opens early, great for breakfasts, and then coffee and a bagel throughout the day
The Olive Tree
Café by the side of the canal with plenty of outdoor seating overlooking the activities on the canal. A 20-minute walk down the canal from the house. Great place for any time of day, go for coffees, lunch or evening meal.
